Only days until Salt to Saint! (September 20, 2013)

Recommended Relay Format

We have made a strong effort to give you and your teams as much wiggle room as possible when it come to strategy and relay format. There are of course some things that we have to require, see the Race Bible, but for the most part, your teams strategy will be a large factor in how fast you get from Salt Lake City to St George.

The recommended formats bellow are just a few ideas that we, or other riders have used on the course. Please remember the designated transition areas have been chosen for their safety, distance and accessibility.

Option 1 – Relay to a new rider at each transition area.
Strengths: Fresh legs on the road often. Team is rotated though more quickly
Weaknesses: You spend more time transitioning

Option 2 – Relay to a new rider at every other transition area.
Strengths: This give a rider a chance to keep going while the legs are warm
Weaknesses: Longer you are on the bike, the higher likelihood of fatigue. Team members in the car stay off the bike longer.

Option 4 - Please let us know if you are using a format not stated above.
