So here is the tracking deal. In 2011 we worked with a tracking company to track the riders during this wet and epic night. Turns out it was a learning experience. To say there was some frustration with the system would be an understatement, but to say it was a flop would not be true. The biggest thing we learned about this is that we want to track our riders in real time.
So, to the point… We will be tracking each team live this year via a SPOT tracking device. These things are rad! Yes, I said rad. Not only will you have accurate stats (speed, distance and location) about your team’s performance after the race but also live updates during the event. Wait, it gets better! You can also make this epic experience available to your family and friends at home. Yes, that is awesome!
The SPOT device provides tracking of each team for course officials. It also has fully featured maps with zoom, satellite view, and a small icon that represents your rider.
This will also help us keep you and your friends updated as to where your riders are, via Facebook and Twitter.
Tracking software features
